WELCOME TO CO-OPERATIVE ELECTION COMMISSION

The Government of Tamil Nadu, true to its tradition and values and as a forerunner in the making of many legislations in the matter of social and economic reforms, made the fundamental principles of Co-operative movement (i.e.,) Democratizing the functioning of co-operatives into law, by enacting the Tamil Nadu Co-operative Societies (Fourth Amendment) Act, 2012 (Act No.38 of 2012) and Tamil Nadu Co-operative Societies Amendment Act, 2013 (Act No.4 of 2013) and in conformity with the provisions of the Constitution (Ninety Seventh Amendment) Act, 2011. These enactments provided for the constitution of the Tamilnadu State Co-operative Societies Election Commission, an independent body and the first of its kind in Tamil Nadu, to conduct the elections of the Co-operatives in Tamil Nadu to achieve the highly cherished principles of Democratizing Co-operatives and Women Empowerment as a reality.
